Correctional Officer
Deadline: Continual Basis
The Correctional Officer I position is entry level correctional work in maintaining order and discipline and supervising the activities of inmates on an assigned shift in the detention facility. This position requires successful completion of the Correctional Training Academy.   Starting salary is $32,315. 
Requirements: Must be at least 21 years of age, with a High School Diploma or Equivalent, and possess a valid driver's license.

Emergency Communications Specialist- Basic

This is a responsible, full-time position at the Somerset County 911/ Communications Center where the employee will be expected to receive 911 emergency calls, dispatch fire, emergency medical services, police and/or transfer calls to the appropriate agency.  The employee should be experienced in performing clerical duties and computer functions.  All applicants must pass a complete and thorough background investigation; and are required to successfully pass a complete and thorough background investigation; and are required to successfully pass a drug test & psychological evaluation.
Requirements:  The successful applicant must have a high school diploma or equivalent, be able to type 30 WPM, and have a Valid Driver's License. 

GIS Technician/ Planner

This is a mid-level position with the Department of Technical and Community Services, requiring technical proficiency with GIS (Geographical Information Systems), computer applications, and knowledge of environmental programs and planning practices and principles.  The position's principle duties would involve daily coordination of creating maps and data reports for in house zoning/planning projects, and implementing and overseeing the administration of the County's environmental programs, including the Chesapeake Bay Critical Area and Forest Conservation programs.  Starting salary is $42,228 annually with a full range of benefits.  Full Job Description

Part Time Groundskeeper (Great Hope)

Groundskeepers perform routine manual labor involved in golf course maintenance; do semi-skilled grounds construction and maintenance work; operate small hand powered equipment and be trained to occasionally perform work involving large equipment such as tractors, loaders, and gang mowers.  Each groundskeeper may be assigned responsibility for the care and maintenance of several designated holes on the golf course and does related work as required.

Automotive Mechanic (County Roads)

This is a semi-skilled mechanical and skilled equipment operations work.  An employee in this class will be under the direct supervision of the Assistant Superintendent and perform duties such as servicing of motor vehicles, to include gasoline and diesel powered equipment.  This job entails extensive outside work in all weather conditions.  Starting salary range is $33,135- $42,228 annually based on the applicant's experience, with a full range of benefits.

Director of Technical & Community Services

This Director position has the oversight of separate divisions: planning, zoning and environmental ordinances; building codes and property standards ordinances, and community development and housing programs.  This position requires both administrative and professional work in these areas.

Transfer Station Attendant II

The employee will perform transfer station duties, supervise an inmate crew when assigned to the landfill, drive a cube body truck to pick up waste, cut grass, and perform other duties at the landfill as needed.  Candidates must have reliable transportation as work will be required at either of the  five County Transfer Stations and County Landfill.
