MOSQUITO CONTROL UPDATE AS OF AUGUST 1, 2018

Due to the recent heavy rainfall that Somerset County has experienced, mosquito populations have become elevated and are still on the rise. The Somerset County Mosquito Control Program is making all efforts to provide routine truck spraying to property owners participating in the program. Aerial applications have been scheduled and will occur as soon as possible. To help protect yourself from mosquito bites we recommend wearing long, light colored clothing, using insect repellent according to label directions, and limiting your time outdoors between dusk and dawn when most mosquitoes are active.

UPDATE AS OF AUGUST 6, 2018
Weather dependent, areal sprays for mosquito populations will begin tomorrow evening August 7th starting South with Crisfield and Smith Island then moving North to the other spray blocks throughout the week. The Mosquito Control Department will be sharing the plane with Dorchester County this week, so spraying will not occur consecutively.

Areas to be sprayed:
Crisfield, Smith Island (includes Tylerton, Rhodes Point and Ewell), Fairmount, Wenona, Deal Island, Chance, Dame's Quarter, Champ, Oriole, and Mount Vernon.
